| This book belonged to Cecil and Olive Withers and was marked by them to denote the places where Cecil and George were injured. |
| The top bit of writing on the right hand side of the map reads as follows: ' . Spot where Cecil fell Aug /18 '. The marking is to the right hand side of Bapaume , just above Bancourt but below Fremicourt . ( Cecil was hit in the back of the head by a piece of shrapnel from an exploding shell ) . The bottom bit of writing reads as follows: ' x Spot where George fell 27/9/18 '. The map is marked with an x to the left of Marcoing. |
